The Music and Art Festival “Laba Daba” announces festival dates and guests from Iceland – the “GusGus” band

This year, the International Music and Arts Festival “Laba Daba” will take place for the fourteenth time, this time at an unusual time from 12 to 14 July. The festival’s five stages will host both local and international musicians, theatre, dance and performance artists. Tickets go on sale today, and the first festival guests – “GusGus”, one of the most sought-after electronic music artists, are announced.

For the first time, the festival will take place in July and will bring together more than fifty bands and DJs, as well as theatre plays, performances and poetry readings, cinema, creative workshops, sports games, an artisan market, the popular miniature zoo “Dzīvo sapņu dārzs” (Living Dream Garden) and many other creative activities. The venue of the “Laba Daba” festival will remain unchanged – the University of Latvia Recreation Complex “Ratnieki” in Ratnieki, Ligatne Parish, Cesis Municipality. It should be emphasised that “Laba Daba” is the only major music festival that takes place outside the city and offers holidays in nature, in the beautiful Gauja National Park.

The first artists to be announced – the Icelandic electronic music group “GusGus”. They started in 1995 with their first album “Gus Gus” and have released 12 albums, almost 40 singles and videos. “GusGus” explores a wide world of experimental, intelligent dance music, combining different movements from trip-hop and techno to house. “GusGus” has also created remixes for Björk, Depeche Mode, Moloko, Sigur Ros and other world-famous artists. At the end of last year, the band released their latest album “DanceOrama”, in which they continue to experiment in their musical expressions, going beyond the usual genres.

The musical programme of the Latvian artists and the names of more international guests will be announced soon. A wide programme of theatre, dance spectacles and performances is planned for the Big Barn or the “Dog” Stage, while the film programme will take place in the “Cinema Hall” in collaboration with the Riga International Short Film Festival “2Annas”, and will feature a specially selected marathon of thematic short films. LR6 – LU Radio NABA stage and live studio for 36 hours will be located in the central square of the festival.

The programme of stages and parallel events of the festival will be regularly updated and available on the website www.labadaba.lv as well as on the festival’s social media platforms.

This year, the festival will implement an even more accessible ticketing model – family-friendly prices – with teen and student ticket categories available. As usual, entry for children under 13 is free, and all ticket holders stay in the tent area without paying an additional fee. From today, the first 100 people buying tickets will get the lowest price.

Sale of tickets has been started on the websites www.labadaba.lv, www.ticketshop.lv and www.bilesuserviss.lv

The festival is invariably organised by the Full Service Event Agency “Pareizā ķīmija” and Radio NABA.
